Materials ideally suited for soil investigation

Explofor®3 enables the recording of drilling parameters during the drilling process with a view to collecting real time information on the soil profile. These data can also be used to choose adapted soil testing investigations (PRESSUREMETER, SPT, etc.) to the soil at hand.

Explofor® 3 is a cutting edge equipment that centralizes drilling data right through the central unit GeoBOX®.

The whole device is handy and can be quickly mounted on the drilling rig.

Control Unit (C.U.), tubings and 3-cells probe to perform in situ Pressuremeter test in soils conform to the ISO 22476-4 and ASTM  D-4719-00 Standards.

A Pressuremeter test is an in-situ stress controlled loading test performed on the wall of a borehole using a cylindrical probe which can expand radially.

From the test readings (volume variation based on controlled pressure), a stress-strain curve can be obtained, in the case of plane deformation, which yields :

  • the Ménard Pressuremeter modulus
  • the creep pressure
  • the Menard limit pressure

GeoSPAD® allows the acquisition of pressumeter data via the central unit for soil investigation GeoBOX®. This system displays the conduct of pressuremeter tests and automatically records the conditions and results of these tests.

PROBEX Borehole Dilatometer
The PROBEX dilatometer is a radially expandable borehole probe used to determine, in-situ, the modulus of elasticity of soft and moderately hard rocks. Tests run with the PROBEX can reach working pressures of 30 000 kPa. The probe is inflated hydraulically by means of a two-way ram, and deformation readings are obtained by monitoring the displacement of the twin pistons.
